Gotse Delchev is located in southwestern Bulgaria, in the Blagoevgrad municipality. The town’s name comes from the name of the Bulgarian Revolutionary Georgi (Gotse) Nikolov Delchev, head of the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization-Edirne. Located 547 meters above sea level, its origin is closely linked to the nearby Roman site of Nicopolis ad Nestrum.
Today, Gotse Delchev is a small and peaceful mountain town with a nice and well maintained pedestrian area, surrounded by cafes and shops. The town is a wonderful place to rest, with a close proximity to several traditional villages, as well as Greece and the Aegean Sea.
