The Palace of Maria Romanska is the former summer residence if the Romanian Queen Maria Alexandrina Victoria of Edinburgh (1875-1938). It is located in an exquisite spot between the cliffs of Balchik and the Black Sea. After the Balkan Wars, part of Dobruzha separated from Bulgaria and was claimed by Romania. The town of Balchik was part of Romania for more than three decades.
Some of the Romanian Aristocracy, drawn to the charm of the nature and the climate, established their summer residences in Balchik.
