Rusi Chorbadzhi House - Zheravna
The Rusi Chorbadzhi House is one of the oldest houses in the village of Zheravna. Spared from time and attacks from bandits, it was built for a wealthy merchant in the village. His personal fortune amounted to more than 30,000 animals. He was involved in trade. Local legends add to the interest in this house, which does not differ in outer appearance from the other houses. This was probably to not attract attention from malicious people.
The decoration of the interior of the house is much more extravagant, with special attention given to small details. Today it houses a number of exhibits that trace the various crafts from the Renaissance period, such as tools used for weaving and fine linen fabrics. The house museum allows you to go back in time and witness history.
On the second floor, the house hosts an ethnographic collection that reveals the lifestyle of the rich families of the village during the Bulgarian Revival. The well maintained yard, laden with flowers, complements the atmosphere of the architectural complex, which dates back to more than 300 years.
