Nestled at the foot of Mt. Vitosha, the Saints Nicholas and Panteleimon Church, more commonly known as the Boyana Church, is located in the Boyana neighborhood in sofia and is made up of three parts. The eastern part was built in the 10th century. The second story of the church was built and painted in 1259 by the painters Vasiliye and Demetrius, with the money being donated by the Sevastokrator Kaloyan. The third part was built in the mid-19th century. In this section you can see the unique medieval artwork. The Boyana Church is a monument of Christian art, and was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1979.
