The Regional History Museum is located in the center of Vratsa in the southern part of the main square. Established in 1953, it has resided in its current building since 1980. Its collections are displayed in nine exhibition halls in three parts. One of the most famous exhibits is the Rogozen Treasure, which is displayed in museums worldwide. This is the largest Thracian treasure ever discovered.
The museum holds the oldest human skeleton found in Bulgaria, which is 8,000 years old. It also contains ancient tiles and pottery with pictograms, thought to be the oldest examples of writing in the world.

The Sophronius of Vratsa and Nicolas Voyvodosa Ethnographic Museum is connected to the Region History Museum.
