The house with wood carvings by the craftsman Marin Krastev is located in the small village of Porovets, near the town of Isperih. Marin Krastev was a self-taught craftsman. He began work on the decoration of his house following his retirement, a project that lasted 13 years.
Every corner of the house is decorated entirely with wood carvings. The craftsman’s hhand has left its mark on every object in the house – furniture, walls, and ceilings. Each part of the house is named, which is evidence of the attention, care, and love that Krastev put into each of his works: the Arab Room, White Room, and the family altar.
This unique museum near the Demir Baba Tekke and Sveshtari tombs immerses visitors into the beautiful world of this self-taught artist who showed a powerful imagination and will to finish the job. We recommend a visit.
