The Sinaia Monastery was built from 1690 to 1695, at the request of the noble Mihail Cantacuzino, following his pilgrimage to Mount Sinai. This is the origin of the name of the town. This monastery has long served as a refuge for traders passing through the Prahova Valley.
In the monastery, you can find two churches (Biserica Mare and Biserica Veche),a museum, and the tomb of Take Ionescu, a Romanian politician of the early 20th century.
