The village of Murighiol is located on the bank of the St. George River, about 40 kilometers southeast from the city of Tulcea. This village is one of the starting points for cruises in the Danube Delta, along with Mahmudiyah, Jurilovka and Tulcea. The village is one of the largest in the delta, as it covers 792 hectares and includes seven villages in its surroundings. There are various recreational activities to take part in, such as hunting, fishing, bird-watching or archeological explorations at the ruins of the Halmyris Fortress.
