Formerly a place for merchants, workshops and Saxon homes, the Small Square (Piata Mica) is connected to the Grand Square and the Huet Square by some small streets and tunnels. Here you can admire the Council Tower, which dates back to the 13th century. Originally it had 4 floors, later increasing to 7. This tower is a massive concrete construct that offers magnificent views of the city. On the side of the tower there is also a beautiful clock.
The semicircular shape of the square is due to the construction of the current buildings (built between the 14th and 16th centuries) on top of the old fortress wall.
