Sinaia is one of the main tourist resorts in Prahova Valley. The town, situated at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, is popular both in summer and winter, thanks to its winter sports facilities and rich cultural heritage.
Located at an altitude of 880 meters above sea level, the town owes its existence and recognition to King Carol I of Romania, who built the Peles Castle there as a summer residence for himself. The town has preserved the charm of yesteryear in its upper neighborhoods, and features numerous old houses with Saxon-influenced architecture.
