The Church on the Hill in Sighisoara, as its name suggests, is situated on top of a large hill in the town. Like many buildings in the region, its construction lasted a long time (from 1345 – 1525) due to tensions between the Romanians, Turks and Austro-Hungarians.
This church is recognized is the best example of ecclesiastical Gothic architecture in Transylvania. Some of its Gothic attributes are its wide quire and large ribbed vault.
Inside you can find a mural created in 1488 by the artist Valentin, who was none other than the mayor of Sighisoara at that time.
