The Sighisoara Citadel is located in the center of the city, and was built by Saxon settlers in the 13th century. In 1999 it was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, thanks to the quality and conservation of its extraordinary cultural heritage. This is a wonderful area to go for a walk, and meander among the colorful houses of the citadel. Standing in the middle of Transylvania, this colorful spot can mislead visitors to think they have fallen into a Mediterranean city.
The main attractions here are the towers of the castles (especially the clock tower), churches (Church on the Hill, Monastery Church) and the house of Vlad Dracul, father of Vlad the Impaler.
