With over 63,000 citizens, Medias is the second largest city in the Sibiu county, and is located 55 kilometers from the city of Sibiu. This city was founded by the Saxons and flourished during the Middle Ages. Due to its strategic position in Transylvania, Medias became an important center for trade.
The old center is well preserved; there you can find ancient fortress towers in various parts of the pedestrian area. King Ferdinand Square (King of Romania from 1914 to 1927) is very pleasant, providing access to the main buildings of the city, the Schuler House (former residence of the Princes of Romania), and the Kastel House.
