In order to “build a new city”, Dr. Gyorgy Bernady, mayor of Targu Mures, began the construction of the Cultural Palce in 1902. The “home of the largest trade fair in Transylvania”, as he loved to call it, was acquired by the city, following two more years of construction.
This palace features fascinating aesthetics on both the interior and exterior of the building. The greatest artists and craftsmen of the day were invited to participate in the decoration of the palace, and contributed various works of art, such as ceramics, stained glass, paintings and furniture.
A tour of the Cultural Palace includes a visit to several rooms, such as the Hall of Honor, the Hall of Mirrors and the Performance Hall.
