The P. Zosim Oncea Museum in Sibiel holds one of the largest exhibitions of glass icons in Transylvania. Utilizing a mix of eastern and western techniques, this ancient style was introduced in Transylvania in 1699, after the annexation of the area by the Habsburg Empire. This folk art has been adopted by farmers, whose works adorn the houses of the region. The main depictions in these icons are the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.
The museum was created by the priest Zosim in 1969. He had arrived in the village five years earlier, and decided to make this craft known to a worldwide audience.
