Marginimea Sibiului is located in the southwest area of Sibiu County, and holds a unique ethnological heritage, culture and architecture. As is common in the region, most of the inhabitants originate from the Saxons, who inhabited these lands during the Middle Ages. Today the villages in this region are populated mainly by Romanians, who have preserved the local customs and traditions. Very often during the holidays, you can see locals dressed in traditional black and white costumes with hats. Also, some of the residents continue to create and pass down their experience of glass-engraved iconography.
The southern part of region located in the vicinity of the Cindrel Mountains, features wonderful natural scenery. Here, time seems to have stop for the shepherds in the mountains.
