Olt Valley is the longest gorge in Romania, spanning 47 kilometers between the towns of Turnu Rosu and Cozia. The Olt River, which flows from the Hasmas Mare (eastern Carpathians, north of Miercuria Ciuc), carved this valley between Cozia and Fagaras. The river, which flows into the Danube at the Bulgarian border far to the south, has given the name to the historic region of Oltenia in southwestern Romania.
The Olt Valley is a strategic geographical point, as it connects Transylvania to Wallachia. Here, mountain goats loom over the valley, which offers panoramic views of the meandering river for miles.
