The Calimanesti resort is a spa town in the Olt Valley. Known for the quality of its waters, the territory of the town was occupied in ancient times by the Dacians and later the Romans.
Nestled between the beautiful scenery of the Cozia and Kapatani mountain ranges, the waters of Calimanesti have attracted political figures such as Napoleon III and Franz Joseph I, former ruler of Austria-Hungary. The waters, with a temperature ranging from 41 to 49.5 degrees Celsius, are famous for their ability to treat diseases associated with the digestive system, kidneys, urinary tract, and lungs.
The main sites in the city are the Cozia Monastery, Cozia National Park the Island and the railway station, which was constructed in 1899 and has a significant architectural value.
