The Stavropoleos Church is one of the numerous churches in the Lipscani District, the historical center of the Romanian capital.
This place of worship was built in the early 18th century, and is one of the best representations of the Brancovenesc architectural style (Brancoveanu was the former prince of Wallachia). The church was built inside the monastery of the same name.
In 2008, the Stavropoleos Monastery was consecrated once again. Religious people live just a few meters from the church.
The collection of the church includes religious items, icons, decorative items, and parts of frescoes recovered from other churches that were demolished during the communist period. Both the interior and exterior walls of the church are covered with beautiful paintings.
