The village of Valea Viilor, whose name translates to “Valley of the Vine”, wears its name with pride. The building that gives the village its reputation is its fortified church, which was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1999.
The church in Valea Viilor is one of the most impressive monuments of its kind in Transylvania. It was built in the early 15th century and reinforced 100 years later with four bastions overlooking the village.
