The Bucegi Natural Park is a protected natural reserve in the souther Carpathians. Located between Bucharest and Brasov, this place is a favorite among tourists, skiers and hikers.
The Bucegi Mountains are situated in between the valleys of Prahova to the east and Ialomita to the south. The large variety of rock formations gives visitors a chance to witness some exceptional natural sites, such as the Rata and Ialomita caves, the Tatar and Bear gorges, the Urlatoarea waterfall, and the Sphinx of Bucegi.
Tourist activity in Bucegi is focused around winter sports, hiking and cultural sightseeing in the nearby towns of Sinaia, Busteni and Bran in the neighboring valley. There are many hiking trails, and various tours offering day trips or 2 to 3 day camping excursions.
