The fortified church in the village of Harman was built during the 13th century, and is one of many fortified medieval sites in Transylvania. It is located about ten kilometers from Brasov.
The church and village were invaded several times between the 13th and 14th centuries, which led to changes in architecture. This building was built by the Teutonic Knights, who then moved into the territory of Brasov. The fortifications surrounding the church were built during the 15th century, and consist of three walls, whose height ranges from 4.5 to 12 meters.
The complex includes the church, a tower/chapel built over 1300 years ago, fortified walls, a bell tower and a small ethnographic museum.
